  1. I really like how Mariyah had a pie chart to show percentages and had good description to her topic on why teachers should NOT carry guns around the school and students.

    1. I believe the negative side “teachers should NOT carry guns in schools” won because she had good facts and explanations even though she could not explain her opinions she still had good information and propaganda pictures on debation video to tell her side of the story.

  2. I’m in the negative side of this debate, teachers shouldn’t be armed with firearms in schools. I’m straight forward with Mariyah on this one, because it teaches kids, that it’s ok to carry firearms and a child could try disarm the teacher if she/he is not looking, which could start a school shooting.

  4. The negative side won because he was able to give good facts that relates to the real world by using pathos, he also argued and had facts to back his points up. He was able to convince people and he had responded to what his opponent has said that wasn’t fine with him.

  5. I think Mariyah did the best on this debate overall. She supported her points with strong facts for example when she brought up the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. She did a great job explaining her points on why teachers shouldn’t carry guns into school she put pie charts and graphs.

  6. i loved how mariyah had evidence of the shooter and his picture and how she explained what he did in depth and she even had a pie chart with the percentages. In a way you could see that she did more research but it was a good debate .

  7. Both sides had amazing facts and details for their sides. It’s hard to pick even though I agree that teachers shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns in school. There were many great details from both sides so I won’t pick a side because it’s hard to pick and both sides did amazing job explaining why teachers should or should not be allowed to carry guns in school!

  9. Although both of them made strong arguments I feel like Mariyah made more effective claims because they were logical and straightforward. Also she stayed more on topic.

  10. In the second video, I believe Oscar won the debate, regardless if I side with him or not, his facts were convincing and the images he provided definitely strengthen his script. I especially liked it how he mentioned that because there is a presence of a gun in the class students’ mental and emotional state can change.

  12. throughout the whole video Oscar Marquez who had the Negative side won because some kids don’t know that guns can be dangerous and deadly because they are still kids, knowing that teachers have a gun in class makes them want to see or even touch it. What if they were curious and accidentally shot themselves to death because they wanted to see this gun and hold it, maybe they were getting bullied and got tired of the situation so they grab the gun and shoots their classmates. this is why having guns in school is really dangerous.

  13. I think Oscar Marquez won the debate because he was very open minded and backing up his points with real world facts of carrying a gun can accidentally kill a person. He also explains how teachers carrying gun can make kids terrify leading to mental state and how it can influence kids to being weapons to school. He was very negative on this topic which made his argument to be stronger. Overall, the debate was good on both side.

  16. I believe Oscar won the debate because his three points and during the debate he was very strong and spoke real well. Both of them did good but Oscar just had the better evidence and facts to support his side, he was strong in the debate had nice points only problem with Oscar was that he was kind of nervous and did mumble a few times, but other than that he did a phenomenal job.

  17. For the first debate video, I feel like the affirmative side won the debate because she gave really good examples but I also feel that at one point they both contradicted themselves when they gave a personal example. Overall really good debate on both sides!

  18. I believe Mariyah won because she had really good arguments and her points were concise and thorough. The photos in her video were really good, she even had a pie chart with percentages detailing what she was saying. Even though Mariyah won I still think that Chinette had some good arguments during the in-class debate but she could’ve done a little better.
